Im Courtney Willits. Im currently a senior at Auburn University. I am in the process of looking into graduate programs to further my education while also exploring ways to better the industry through research. My major, and my passion, is Food Science. Everyone loves food, I just happen to love learning about the chemistry behind the food. When I first started this journey four years ago I had no idea where Food Science was going to take me, but it has given me so many opportunities in my professional and personal life.
Growing up I loved helping in the kitchen as much as I could until I got old enough to do it myself. I loved changing recipes to figure out why each of the components was added and how changing it would affect the overall outcome. I always knew that science would be a huge part of my life, but I did not know I could combine my two passions. Alton Brown taught me that science is an integral part of cooking, and I fell in love.
Food Science allows me to combine my love of cooking, and eating, with my love of science. Once I found out there was such a thing as Food Science I dove head first into learning everything I could about it. I look forward to applying my undergraduate knowledge to my future endeavors in graduate school, and beyond that.
